What are DroughtStripes?
Each stripe represents one year. The colour shows the drought severity based on the Standardised Precipitation Index (SPI). Blue stripes indicate wetter-than-average conditions; orange and brown stripes indicate drought. The visualisation removes all distractions to make long-term drought trends immediately visible.
About this project
DroughtStripes is created by DroughtStripes.org and GlobalDroughtMap.com. Inspired by Prof. Ed Hawkins' iconic Warming Stripes, this project aims to make drought data accessible and shareable. Use #DroughtStripes to share.
